Transmitter Guide Help
Transmitter Guide helps you to locate your nearest transmitter signals. you can choose either digital or analogue. Enter the postcode of area where you are located and A google map will come up showing the locations of the transmitters in surrounding 140km of area. Click on any marker to read the information. The information on right hand side of marker shows "Call sign V/H OD/DA ERP address" respectively for each transmitter situated at that point. e.g. "ABGV53 H DA 2500 ERP Broadcast Site MEADOWS HILL". Note: If there are number of markers overlapping each other at certain point you will not be able to click on underlying markers, you will have to zoom the map until it separates. Reading across the page: Call sign and a set of numbers "ABGV53" is the nominated channel number given to the transmitted channel. V or H for vertical or horizontal polarisation. OD or DA for omni directional transmission from the transmitter meaning a full 360 degrees or DA for directional transmission to a limited area only. ERP "2500 ERP" Effective Radiated Power. This will tell caravanners the size of the transmitter. Anything under 5000 is a baby one. This number more than anything else dictates how far away you can be and still receive the signal. A couple of examples: 100 ERP No more than a 10 kilometers provided the signal path is reasonable. Flat, nothing in the way maybe a bit further. 1,000,000 ERP like Bendigo in Victoria you could be 140 kilometers away and still receive it. To distinguish between the strength of signal, transmitters are shown in different colors for markers. The detail of markers and range for signal for that marker is as below
